CATTERICK GOLF CLUB has been awarded a Sport England grant of £5,000.
Sport England aims to encourage and help everyone to get active regardless of their age, background or ability, recognising that being physically active can help us lead healthier lives and also has an important role to play in improving wellbeing.
The grant to Catterick recognises that the golf club plays an important role in providing playing and recreational facilities for the local military community and organisations supporting wounded, injured and sick serving and retired service personnel in the area.
It also recognises that Catterick provides this same facility to the wider community, encouraging junior golfers and providing a significant number of seniors with recreational exercise, camaraderie and healthy competition.
During this crisis the course has continued to be maintained and is in excellent condition ready for play once the restrictions are relaxed. The governing bodies of golf are working hard on guidelines that will make it a safe environment to play the sport and enjoy all the benefits it brings, and the club is looking forward to that time when it will be open and able to welcome anyone wanting to join and play the sport.
