Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB – Premier League

IN the Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB Premier League, it was derby day as Great Ayton batted first in the Yorkshire derby at home to Stokesley. They struggled and lost regular wickets, as former player Joe Marsay claimed 3-65 and Andrew Weighell 3-26, however, Doug Mulholland added 35 in a final total of 158-9. The visitors made a good start as Jonny Weighell scored and excellent 88 from 143 balls, which included 13 fours to steer his team to victory on 162-5.

Visiting Billingham Synthonia decided to bat first at leaders Hartlepool, with Chris Atkinson scoring 34, JP Meade 39, Thomas Harper 51 not out, while Tayyab Tahir scored a brilliant 102 from 86 balls, which included nine fours and four sixes, as they totalled a massive 254-5.

Pools then had Paul Braithwaite making 30 and Neil Whitworth 53, alongside George Relton 48, but in the end they had to settle for the draw on 217-8, as Martin Cull claimed 3-55.

In the seaside derby, Marske were in all sorts of trouble early on at home to Saltburn, as Jack Almond bowled brilliantly taking 5-18 from his 15 overs, alongside Alex Smith who claimed 3-16 and they were all out for just 93 runs. In reply, the visitors skipper Ben Ainsley cracked 63 not out from 51 balls, and Ryan Gibson made 31, to see their side home on 94-1 from 13.3 overs.

Normanby Hall asked Marton to bat first and Liam Coates scored a watchful 68 from 127 balls, as they totalled 180-7, with Alfie Street claiming 3-44. Visiting skipper Alex Wardell was in good form with the ball again, as he claimed 4-55, while Ashley Vaughan scored 34 and Carl Chillingsworth 30, but they were eventually all out for 148, as Faizan Hussain claimed 3-42 late on.

In the big derby game at the top, Richmondshire took first knock at home to Barnard Castle, with skipper Rob Carr scoring 49, but then they lost four wickets quickly, but Gary Pratt then scored 69 not out from 116 balls and Josh Bousfield ended up with 3-53, in a total of 182-7.

Barney then struggled with the bat, as Ajay Mandal (3-25) claimed early wickets, alongside Craig Marshall with 3-35 and they finished on 139-9, as Robert West held firm for 32 not out and claim the draw.

Thornaby asked Middlesbrough to bat first and although James Lowe scored 69 and Sam Gaudie 38, putting on 82 for the first wicket, Luke Gettings then took four quick wickets (4-59) to peg them back. Richard Knaggs then fired 36 to get their side up to 177 all out, as Husnain Bukhari claimed an excellent 5-20.

Boro took two quick wickets, but Davie Seymour with 42 and Bukhari with the bat, made an excellent 96 from 103 balls which included 14 fours, to steer the home side to victory 181-7, despite Harry Williams claiming 3-41.

Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB – Division One

The top two met up at Feethams, and Darlington heavily lost to league leaders Stockton. Matthew Gill made an impressive 127 from 122 balls, which included nine fours and seven sixes, while James Ward added 37 in a formidable total of 251-9, despite Grant Sowerby claiming 4-57. The Quakers then lost wickets regularly and other then Leo Giacomelli who fired 59 not out, they crumbled to 167 all out, as Joel Thwaites, Leigh Beaumont and Bhargav Sai Ramesh Babu Sure, all took three wickets.

Darlington RA drop to fourth place, and made the long journey to Whitby, and were rewarded with a winning draw. RA made 194 all out, thanks to 54 from Henry Blackett and 54 from Carl McGregor, despite Kai Morris taking 4-46 and Finlay Morris 3-36. The home team started positively, but they ended up on 153-7, as Andrew Russell and McGregor with the ball, shared six wickets between them.
