HOLDERS Northallerton Police reached the last four of the Frank Bainbridge Cup after a 6-2 win at Colburn Town last Sunday.

Goals from Dan Cardie, Nathan Hemingbrough, Ben Darville (2), Gary Sharda and Rob Fraser were enough to send the Division One leaders into their second semi-final of the season and on course for the treble In Division One, Spotted Dog enjoyed a 5-3 home win over Kildale. Having beaten champions Richmond Turf the previous week the hosts well, but it was Kildale who struck first through Wayne Stephenson.

Goals either side of the break from Scott Healey and Jeffrey Syed put the hosts in front but John Bennet equalised on the hour before Mark Swanwick and Nev Fuller looked to have settled matters in the Dog’s favour. But Kildale refused to lie down and Barry Long reduced the arrears ten minutes from time. although Healey had the last word with his second of the match six minutes later.

Three Coopers finally got their first point of the season as a goal from David Jardine was enough to give them a 1-1 home draw with Stokesley SC, for who Lee Donachie was on target.

In Division Two, Bromptonon- Swale moved to the top of the table with a 5-2 win over visitors Cowtons. Chris Pickergill gave Brompton the lead midway though the first half but David Ptak brought down Mark Sims in the area soon after and Sims picked himself up to equalise from the spot.

Pickersgill restored the hosts’ advantage before the break while further strikes from Abdulie Tunkara and Paul Orton all but sealed the points in the second half although Cowtons rallied with a second penalty from Sims, given after Gary Hunt had handled on the line and then sent off.

However, the ten men would not be denied and Pickersgill completed his hat-trick ten minutes from time.

Blue Star saw their promotion push take a knock with a 4-1 defeat at Osmotherley FC.

Craig Hutton and Tom Harrison gave the hosts the perfect start but Sean Taylorson brought Star back into just before the break. However ,Ossy finished on top and Harrison went on to complete his hattrick to seal the points.

Travaux FC moved away from the relegation zone with a 7-0 home win against fellow strugglers County Arms. The match was good as over inside 25 minutes as goals from Mike Elliott, Pete Hurry, Tom Keegan and Chris Duckett left County with a mountain to climb.

Keegan and Hurry then added further efforts before the break, while Keegan completed his hat-trick, and the scoring, ten minutes from time.

In Division Three, Bar One staged a comeback to beat visitors Masons Arms 5-4. A first half hat-trick from Ross Hodgson looked to have given struggling Masons three points but the hosts scored three times in three minutes straight after the restart to draw level – Roy Smith, with a brace, and Steven Adamson the scorers.

Paul Humphreys then put the hosts in front but Masons hit back with an equaliser from Dave Young 20 minutes from time before Smith completed his hat-trick to give Bar One the points late on.

The Academy enjoyed a 3-2 home win over Topcliffe. A penalty from Shaun Nolan was quickly followed by a great header from Charlie Sherwood as the hosts raced into a 2-0 lead inside the opening ten minutes, but a brace of headers from Stuart Wright brought Topcliffe level by the break.

That looked to be the way it would finish but the Academy brought on sub Frank Kureca with 20 minutes left and he helped create the winner for Liam Pallet in the 80th minute.

Vale of York enjoyed a 6-1 home win over Osmotherley Rangers. A brace from Liam Cook and a strike from Will Burn had Vale in control within 20 minutes but Adam Jackman briefly raised Rangers hopes.

However, Michael Lax restored the hosts three-goal lead, while Cook (hat-trick), and Graham Merritt sealed the points.
