COLBURN Town look set to sweep all before them in the league this season as they made it four wins out of four with a 17-0 thrashing of bottom side Hawes B last Saturday.

Stuart Murray led the way with an astonishing eight-goal haul while Gavin Armstrong hit four as Colburn led 9-0 at the break. Ashley McInereny then struck twice while Mark Jamieson, Steve Adams and Pete Hughes went on to complete the rout and make it more than 50 goals conceded by Hawes already.

Richmond Town Academy maintained their 100 per cent start with a 5-1 home win over Reeth. Sean Radford, Dan Briody, Abdoulie Tunka, Simon Wood and Ben Hook were all on target for the hosts while Steve Bainbridge grabbed the Reeth consolation from the penalty spot.

Leyburn United are the only other team not to drop a point yet as they won 6-0 at neighbours Spennithorne and Harmby. Ritchie Weedall gave the visitors an early lead with a deflected cross-shot, while Tom Osborn and Weedall again all but sealed the points before the break.

Weedall then headed home his hat-trick on the hour before Chris Greig and substitute Steve Foley completed the scoring in the final 15 minutes.

Buck Inn Broncos kept themselves in contention with a 3-1 home win over a much improved Carperby Rovers side. A goal from Lloyd Tate gave the hosts a narrow halftime advantage but the points were sealed with a quick-fire brace from James Donaldson midway through the second period. Despite staring defeat in the face, Rovers never gave up and they were rewarded with a penalty from Richard Metcalfe in the final minute although it provided them with no more then a consolation in the end.

Buck Inn Old Boys ended a run of two straight defeats with an impressive 3-1 win at Richmond Mavericks. A first-half brace from Mickey White, the second of which came from the penalty spot, set the visitors on their way although the Mavs came back strongly after the break.

Jason Tobdor halved the arrears with a cracking effort on the hour but as they pushed on looking for an equaliser in the closing stages the Old Boys broke out to seal the points as White completed his hat-trick.

The final game of the week saw Askrigg United surprisingly win 3-1 at Unicorn FC. A first half brace from George Handley set the visitors on their way although Unicorn did get themselves back into it just before the break.

But Askrigg withstood the second half onslaught from the hosts and broke out to seal a very impressive victory as Handley completed his hat-trick 12 minutes from time.
