YOUNG gymnasts from a Darlington club have come back from a regional awards with a clutch of medals and honours.

Darlington Gymnastics Club gained both team and individual successes at the North of England Regional Grades Competition at the weekend.

The events took place at the City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy on Sunday.

The Darlington club won both silver and bronze medals in the team award at grade 13 for nine-years. The silver-placed team was Ellen Barnes, Lauren Roper, Hope Godfrey, Molly Noble and Maya Taylor.The bronzeplaced team was Olivia Austin, Emily Porter, Lucy Cole and Lily Woof.

Jordan McKinnon won an individual silver medal at grade 12 for 11 years and under. She was also part of a bronze medal-winning team also including Jodie Friebel and Hope Walker.

Chloe Hayman picked up sixth position at grade 13 for 11 years and under.

Sarah Gorden and Rebecca Potter also picked up passes in their respective categories.

Jean McKinnon, from the club, said: “The results are absolutely fabulous.

All the girls were over the moon with it all and all the hard work has passed off.They have been training for it since November.”
