YOUNG rugby players are mauling their way to the top of the game as they train using the scientific methods of the professionals.
Year 10 and 11 players at Northallerton College have been selected to play at district and county levels as their tough training regime pays dividends.
Year 11s Stephen Porter, Ian Swall and Andrew Ford are currently in the Hambleton and Richmondshire squad, while Ian is also playing for County Durham.
Year 10s Josh Burridge, Josh Walters, Tom Grant and Olly Fallerraw have been talentspotted by the district squad, with the two Joshes also playing for North Yorkshire.
Coach Chris Hutton said: “What is most impressive is the level of commitment they are already showing to rugby at such a young age. They are very keen and motivated and interested in all aspects of the sport.
“They also look at the science of training and they are very good at keeping fit and healthy, which will stand them in good stead for the future.”
