After a mixed bag for the first half of the season, the Darlington Storm A team found their winning ways, with 3 victories out of 3 games played in January.

The Storm completed the double over Sunderland University, winning both home and away games 85-61 and 91-65. The third win on the bounce was completed against the Richmond Vikings in a difficult away game which ended 81-74.

Point Guard Leo Cassidy had only positive words for his team, looking forwards towards the playoffs - ‘We had a tricky start to the season, losing 2 of our first 3 league games, but since then we've won 6 of the last 7 league games, to move us up to 2nd place.’, ‘Hopefully we can keep things rolling and lock up 2nd place, and then in the playoffs anything can happen.’

Darlington Storm’s A team has definitely been on a positive trend, especially with additions to the squad and in-form players which have pleased Leo Cassidy, who also has been playing at a high level, even after struggling with an ankle injury throughout the start of the year - ‘ The whole team is working well, but Richy Summerbell has been the stand out player, whilst Beau Sproul has been an excellent mid-season addition to the team.’

With the end of the regular season approaching, The Storm will be looking to improve on last season, which saw silverware at the summit of the regional cup. Another cup win would definitely be well received, but Barret’s men will definitely look up to a possible championship win in the playoffs.
