Sedgefield Water Polo Club had several members represent the region at the 2005 born inter regional tournament, held at the Palatine Leisure Centre, Blackpool.

This is a prestigious tournament, with every region within the country sending a team – and each region aims to win to show they are the best in the country.

Charlotte Dunn, 16, earned a very well deserved silver medal with the girls team. Charlotte has only trained with the North East academy since after lockdown and has worked exceptionally hard to be selected.

Her success was replicated the following week by the boys team - consisting of Ben Alderson, Dan Barron, Ryan Griffiths, Rohan Henderson and Simon McKim – who also won silver.

Sedgefield Water Polo Club has a track record for their players to be selected for both the region and the country, with many of these players having started as beginners straight from swimming lessons. In addition to Junior and Senior sessions, the club now offer a beginner session on a Saturday afternoon for those wishing to try this fun and exciting sport. All sessions need to be booked in advance so check the website for further info and joining instructions. Contact: 07579 030 598 / sedgefieldwp@hotmail.com
