THERE is set to be another brilliant mix of sprint and endurance racing in store at the BRSCC’s first visit of the year to Croft Circuit this weekend with the Fun Cup Endurance Championship the highlight of another action-packed meeting.

The popular series will once again be contested over a four-hour period on Saturday afternoon as part of a 13-race schedule over both days with races for saloon, sports, and single seaters also prominent over the weekend.

Croft has been synonymous over the years with the Formula Ford brand since the series was inaugurated in the 1960s and this weekend’s event sees rounds of both the Avon Tyres National and Northern Formula Ford Championships on both days.

The popular Ford Fiesta is represented with three rounds of the AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta Championship whilst the stars of tomorrow will be contesting the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship in their usual non-compromising action no doubt.

One of the biggest grids will be reserved for the local Darlington & District Motor Club’s Northern Sports and Saloon Car Championship which sees an eclectic mix of cars contest the two races on Sunday. Paul Brydon took his BMW M3 to overall victory at the opening round at Oulton Park over Easter but expect the likes of Middlesbrough’s Jack Harper (Triumph Spitfire) and Darlington driver David Cox (Peugeot 205) to be upholding local honour.

Practice gets underway at 9.30am on Saturday with the first of three races, including the Fun Cup Endurance race, commencing at 12.55pm whilst Sunday sees track action from 12pm with the remaining ten races starting at 12.25pm.

Adult admission is just £17 on the day with accompanied children aged 15 and under admitted free on both days. There is also free car parking and free paddock access.

Meanwhile, with less than two months to go until Croft Circuit hosts the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship over the weekend of June 25 and 26, advance tickets are still available. Adult advance prices are £15 for Saturday (£17 on gate), £30 for Sunday (£35 on gate) and £40 for a weekend ticket (£47 on gate, subject to availability). Prices for 13 to 15-year-olds are priced at £5, £8, and £10 respectively and all accompanied children aged 12 and under go free.

Haslam in Northallerton chat show

MOTORCYCLE racing star Leon Haslam will be visiting Northallerton next Tuesday evening to take part in a chat show at the Golden Lion Hotel as the latest guest of the North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club.

The 2018 British Superbike Champion is the son of ‘Rocket Ron’ Haslam and has a wealth of racing all over the world in 500cc Grands Prix as well as the World Superbike Championship, but this season is back in BSB racing a VisionTrack Kawasaki.

Appearing alongside Leon will be a number of Affinity Academy Kawasaki riders whom Leon, Ron and ex racer John Laverty are coaching in the British Championships this year.

Admission is £15 (£10 members), and it gets underway at 8pm.

A date for later in the year will be when four-time World Superbike Champion and star of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity, Carl Fogarty, visits NYRRSC at the Golden Lion on October 7.
