THERE was a fantastic turnout on Saturday for Bedale point to point at Hornby Castle, where six competitive races took place, and trainer Jack Teal record his first treble.

Jack Teal's treble began in the opening "adjacent hunts" Conditions race with the Christy Furness-ridden Pillowman. The application of first time blinkers saw a lively performance from the ten-year-old as the pair led from flag fall and were never headed, allowing Furness to merely push his mount out towards the line and beat Fivecardstud and Harry Carlisle.

The Restricted was the next part of Jack's hattrick as the progressive Desjay stormed to victory under Jack Power only six days after breaking his maiden at Sheriff Hutton. The pair were always to the fore and still had plenty left in hand jumping two out and readily pulled clear after the last.

"I thought he would nearly win last week and getting his head in front has done him the world of good," enthused Teal who also rode the winner's brother to success in the Heart Of All England hunter chase.

Caballo Diablo was a distant second under Alice Stevens, whilst Imperial Imp and Joe Wright came home in third.

The Ladies Open completed the training sequence for Jack with Matts Commission, however this time it would be sister Lois taking the mount who was also celebrating her 25th birthday. The pair were settled towards the rear and patiently crept through the field to lead over the final two fences and stay on well from pace setter Game As A Pheasant and Rosie Howarth, whilst His Excellency and Lottie Crane was third after an absence of four years.

The Men's Open saw another easy success for the Chris Dawson-trained Steely Addition under brother John Dawson. The pair had the race firmly in control over the final two fences and had only to be pushed out on the run in to win nicely. Former adversary River Frost was second again under Joe Wright, whilst Roycano could never land a blow under Jack Power in third. Steely Addition will likely begin to target Hunter Chases towards the back end of the season, however opted out of a Hexham Hunter Chase due to the soft ground. "I think he's better on better ground, he seem's to enjoy it more," said Chris Dawson.

An impressive victory came in the final Open Maiden under John Dawson for trainer Cherry Coward with the smart-looking Fascinating Rhythm. The pair led in the straight and easily came clear after the last to win.

The Intermediate saw another impressive display from Whistle Blower and added to trainer Jon Barlow's fine season. Partnered by Paddy Barlow, the pair set a good pace from early on and found more up the home straight to win by an easy 18 lengths. "I think he'll go to Cheltenham now as he's qualified for the Intermediate final, he's improving all the time and stays very well," said jockey Paddy Barlow, who is having a fruitful season.
