NORTHALLERTON Town were on the road in the early rounds of FA Cup away at Knaresborough Town FC, losing a tight game 2-1.

Town had the first attack down the right through Cieran Jackson and Harry Donachie but the Knaresborough 'keeper saved easily, and it was the home side who took the lead in the 12th minute through Calum Ward, who drew Tom Dawson out of goal and calmly slotted the ball into the net.

Northallerton equalised in dramatic fashion in the 19th minute when Matt Crust tried a shot, which was blocked and the ball came back to Tom Marron who rifled a bullet of a shot into the goal to restore parity to the scores.

In the second half, Town were pressing higher up the pitch. Alex Bruton won a free kick near the edge of the area, then played in Mick Rae who shot straight at the 'keeper. A good footballing move from back to front from Town involving Dylan McAvoy, Andrew Shepherd and Cieran Jackson saw the forward shoot well over the ball.

In the 74th minute against the run of play Knaresborough retook the lead when Tom Dugdale's shot trickled along the ground and beat Tom Dawson just inside a post.

Lewis Rees came on for last few minutes as Town threw everything at their opponents, and had a shot which the 'keeper saved, and the match finished 2-1 to Knaresborough.
