NORTHALLERTON lost 2-1 at newly promoted Redcar Athletic on Saturday.

Town included new signings Dylan McAvoy, Harry Thompson in the starting lineup, with Lewis Rees and Harry Donachie on the bench.

Matt Wilson fired Redcar ahead on 25 minutes, but straight after half time Cieran Jackson levelled for Town. However in the 57th minute, a bouncing ball in the Town penalty area was pounced on by Wilson, who scored again for Redcar.

In the closing stages, Town pushed for an equaliser, but didn’t have any luck, with Dylan McAvoy having a shot cleared off the line.

Northallerton manager Darren Trotter said; “I was very disappointed with the performance. We weren’t good enough in all departments, we gifted them both the goals and didn’t create enough of our own chances. Redcar were rightly up for the game, and we didn’t match their intensity. We need to get back to reality quickly.”
