Richmond Motor Club, Club trial, Kidstones, West Burton, Saturday

THE Richmond club struck gold at sun blessed Kidstones on Saturday where Sandra Fowler and her team staged a club trial for eighty two members.

Farmer Rob Brown’s acres at Howsyke Farm at the head of Bishopdale were bathed in sunshine. Even gamekeeper Stu Dent was on duty, as an observer, at one of the fifteen sections. Leyburn JST Gas Gas teamster Richard Sadler won the day from fellow teamster Guy Kendrew and Dan Thorpe. It was no easy ride for the trio because Gas Gas British importer John Shirt took a break from running his Gas Gas headquarters at Buxton too compete against his own team riders. Nine classes were included. The youngest class winner was Conrad Andrew who ran away with Class C Youth. Callum Fowler took Class B from Alfie Royle and Francis Nicholson. Thirteen year old Skeeby girl Amber Richardson took on the boys to finish seventh. At the sharp end Richard Sadler headed Guy Kendrew by one penalty with Dan Thorpe three marks adrift. John Shirt took fourth place ahead of Philip Alderson. The novice class always also a one mark victory by Chris Barnfather from Tom Middleton. On the green course Gas rig engineer Roger Williams was onshore to beat arch rival Stuart Blythe. The Youth class was as expected with Andrew Reynolds containing a charging Josh Brown and Richard Pulman a mark behind Josh. Paul Sadler held on to take the clubman class – just, from Andy Kearton and Ian Haigh. The Richmond club play again on Good Friday at the spectacular Fremington Edge venue commencing at 10.30 then on Easter Monday at Iron Banks. That trial is an Easy event. Start time as Good Friday.
