Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club, 1st Close to Club championship trial, Addingham Moorside, Sunday

DOUGIE LAMPKIN braved the dense fog hanging over Addingham Moorside on Sunday morning to compete in the opening Yeadon-Guiseley club's opening closed to club championship trial, and win the championship route class, riding forty sections without penalty.

A typical Master Class show from the multi world champion. Conditions at 8.30 am when Louis Haley vanished into the murk to check the course marking the visibility was less than fifty yards but by noon the sun was beaming down on a total of eighty four competitors. The Small Wheels class attracted twenty three girls and boys!

Clerk of Course Danny Cockshott and deputy Louis Haley plotted a shorter course than usual with opening sections on the northern extremes and a return loop climbing the rock escarpment with the final two sections appropriately adjacent to the Two Jays catering unit.

On the championship route Dougie had East Morten landlord Martin Crosswaite and S3 Parts national champion Richard Sadler matching every Lampkin move.

Sadler dropped a mark in section seven on lap two so that put Crosswaite and Lampkin at the top of the awards and maybe a tie for the top spot until Martin incurred a penalty, ironically in the final section and on the last lap.

John Sunter had his first ride since the Scott Trial and was placed tenth on the championship course. Bellerby teenager Ryan Brown was fifth novice.

Aysgarth youth Andrew Reynolds posted a fine seventh place in Clubman A class and that won him the top Youth award.

The Clubman A category provided a sensational result for eighteen year old Silsden trialler Gabby Whitham who won the class from Adam Thornton by a tie-breaker.

It was Gabby's first ever Clubman A class victory. Harrogate trail blazers Phillip Hammond and Rob Hardisty arrived first from Harrogate and departed first after riding four rapid laps, two of which were in dense fog. Hammond got the Clubman B victory on a clean sheet ride while Hardisty scattered just four penalties to head Karl Greaves.

Pickering & D.M.C. Easy trial, Yatt's Farm, Newton on Rawcliffe, Sunday

THE numbers were up for the Pickering club's trial at Yatt's Farm on Sunday where thirty one riders assembled for the second event this year on the club's calendar.

David Brown and his team implemented a white route alternative for six adults and youngsters. The format for all classes including a single twin shock competitor was eleven section and four laps.

Four youths rode the white route where Ripon youngster Harry Mugridge was the star performer. Mark Snowball won the mono class with a lucky, for him, thirteen score.

Motocrossers Mark Franklin and Mike Dowson were well in the picture with a third for Mike and fourth for Mark. The cold weather got the boys moving plus the two inches of snow on Friday evening made the going tricky.

The first four section on the hilltop caught the breeze then it was a battle with the fallen wall that fielded the hardware.

Three slippery banks followed then a dodge the rabbit holes saga at the seventh with a finale of spoil heaps. Pickering will run again on March 17 at Cawthorn Lane, Wrelton at the usual time of 11.00 am.
