NORTON Hockey Club has been nominated as European Hockey Federation's Club of the Year.
England Hockey nominated the club in recognition of "outstanding work to raise the profile of our sport in your local community".
Club president John Sale said: "To be a nominee for such a prestigious award is a real honour for the club and a testimony to the fantastic efforts made by so many people. We feel that our work in developing volunteers, players, juniors, coaches, umpires and assets has made a real difference for hockey and people in the borough of Stockton and in the North East."
Club chairman Jon Carter said: "We would like to thank the many organisations from the local community with whom we have worked during the past year. This includes many schools and universities, Stockton Borough Council, local contractors and all those from the hockey community who have supported us. To be one amongst a relatively small number of nominees across the whole of Europe is fantastic recognition for everyone who has been involved with Norton Hockey Club in 2018."
