GOLFERS got into the swing to raise money for a charity close to their hearts handing over £3,310 to the Dales centre in Bedale which helps elderly and vulnerable people.
Tracy Astwood, Lady Captain of Catterick Golf Club chose the centre as her charity for the year after it reopened last Christmas.
She said: "There are many charities needing help these days, so when it came to choosing a good cause to support I wanted to pick a local one.
"I live near Bedale and was saddened to learn the Dales Centre had to close its doors in 2016. It thankfully reopened in 2017 just in time for Christmas and has proved that it is a valuable resource for the local community.
"Money raised through my Lady Captains Charity has come from coffee mornings, quizzes and donations, with the bulk from the Captains Charity Day in July, supported by many local businesses who donated fabulous raffle prizes. The Cheque would not be so large if it wasn’t for everyone’s generosity."
