MASSIVE congratulations to Swaledale's Ros Blackmore and her partner Mandy Goth on being 1st Female Team, 1st Female Veterans Team, 8th Team/55 Veteran Teams (includes male only teams, mixed teams and female only teams with age grading) and 48th Team/174 Teams overall at this years OMM.

The OMM (Original Mountain Marathon) is a two day mountain running and navigation event that this year was held in the Black Mountains in South Wales on 27th/28th October.

Control points are set out all over the mountains and are worth varying points depending on how difficult they are to find. Competitors run in teams of 2, choosing a class that suits their experience, ranging from short to long. Competitors also have to carry all of the gear they will need for the overnight wild camp. The event tests self-reliance, route selection, navigation, moving quickly over difficult terrain, kit management, endurance, team work and sound mountain judgement. Running in icy cold conditions and even a snow storm, Ros and Mandy were 10 points behind the leading ladies in the Long Score Class after the first day, but a determined second day saw them come in 60 points ahead.

Well done Emily Abbey who had a superb race at the Hexham 10k on 28/10 in a time of 42.12, 4th lady overall.
