TWO young sportsmen from Wensleydale have had successful performances rewarded with a place in the regional teams.
Maciek Nuprejczyk and Thomas Ford both had successful trips to York Railway Institute to play in their respective Yorkshire Closed Badminton Tournaments. Maciek managed a silver medal in the doubles and came 6th in the singles. Thomas won a silver medal in the singles and a bronze in the doubles.
As a result of their performances at the tournament, Maciek has been invited to join the Yorkshire under 15 squad and Thomas the Yorkshire under 11 squad. The boys are both members of Leyburn Badminton Club; Thomas attends Leyburn Primary School whilst Maciek attends Wensleydale School and Sixth Form.
Club spokesman Colin Thorpe said: “Both boys are very keen and hardworking sportsmen and never want training sessions to finish.
“They are both great ambassadors for the sport, their schools and the club.”
