Richmond Motor Club, Crabtree Farm, Gilling West, Sunday

THE rains abated for the Richmond Motor Club on Sunday at Crabtree Farm, Gilling West where Sandra Fowler and the Richmond officials staged the novice and beginners trial for 78 club members.

After rain the previous day the four lap main course was mild and penalties about average in all seven classes.

Four laps and ten sections was the main course format while the youngster had three laps and nine sections which was slightly over the normal in small wheels categories but the eleven riders all completed the course and in the youngest class Joel Thwaite and Sm Long go round on a single penalty.

Brompton on Swale adult Paul Astwood won the clubman class from Leyburn's Darren Fowler, who lost 23 of his twenty score in sections one and seven where legacy of the previous day's rain left the banking muddy and rocks in the stream slippery.

The organisers brought in a new white hard route which tested eleven youth riders where Finghall youth Robert Weatherill excelled over Aysgarth youngster Andrew Reynolds.

The Club are now planning the national Mintex Trophy youth time trial at Hurst on June 27. Entry details are on the Richmond Motor Club website now.

Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club. 4th Club Championship trial, Silsden, Sunday

IT was only the fourth trial in the Yeadon-Guiseley club's closed to club championship series but it attracted two of the top names in British trialling.

Scottish Six Days trial winner Dougie Lampkin and S3 Parts Championship series leader Richard Sadler shared the top spot after both dropped a single penalty at the very testing second section in Pratt's wooded ravine on the first of four laps.

The narrow twisting steep climb tracked the stream and the key to success was to attack at speed.

Top Inter Thomas Housecroft was the only competitor on the championship course to match the winning score ironically his foot went down on the final lap.

Bradford teenager Keiran Child posted a score of just four marks and was rewarded with third expert. The main course was down to eight sections due to shortage of observers but the sections provided a great cross section of challenges.
