THIS week Richmond and Zetland headed down south to the English National Cross Country held at Parliament Hill, to Snake Lane in Pocklington, the Tees Barrage 2 and 5km races, Northumberland Coastal Marathon, Sports Hall Athletics, a few parkruns and even to Scotland!

After an early start and a long trip down to London, the senior men were out on the course with Tony Lambert in 644th and Ryan Greer in 2227th out of 2328 runners.

In the senior ladies Jacqueline Keavney was our first runner home in 444th, followed by Kiska Wilson in 624th, Pauline Whittaker in 772nd and Fiona Wilson in 791st out of 1113 runners.

This gave the ladies squad 84th place in the national championships.

Reece Dalton was placed 35th in the junior mens race and Harry Robson in 183rd.

In the junior ladies race Laura Kirkham was 112th and Chloe Dalton was 130th in the U17 ladies race.

Matthew Lambert was 149th in the U17 mens race and Lewis Moore was 307th.

Emily Francis finished 269th out of 464 runners in the U15 girls race.

Kyle Rabjohn again produced a great performance in 21st out of 504 runners and Daniel Francis was 75th in the U15 boys race.

In the U13 boys Daniel Cole was 193rd, Tom O'Mahoney was 201st and Thomas Greer in 569th.

Rachel Ross-Russell took on the challenge of the Northumberland coastal marathon over 27 miles from along the sand, to sand dunes, across ploughed fields and a little bit of tar mac at the finish for another superb performance to finish as the 2nd lady overall (4:00:20).

Another two of our younger athletes ran the Tees Barrage races held over 5km for the older age groups and Daniel Francis had another very good run to finish in 2nd and then Joe Reeve went one better and won the 2km race in another fantastic performance.

Mark Crawford lined up in Falkirk for the Scottish national cross country for his club north of the border and finished a very respectful 309th out of 650 runners and we hope they didn't mention the rugby too much.

The Snake Lane 10 mile race has been a good hunting ground over the recent years for club members but mainly of the fairer sex, however Rob Scott turned that round this time with another scintillating race to finish 4th and really smash his old personal best by 6 minutes (54:26).

Faith Andrews and the U13 North Yorkshire team qualified for the national finals of Sports Hall athletics to be held at Sports City in Manchester during April.

The final results have been totalled up the North Yorkshire and South Durham league cross country standings.

Richmond emerged victorious in the U13 boys team, the U15 boys team, the U17 mens team and the senior mens team.

The U13 girls team were 2nd and the senior ladies team were 3rd overall.

When all these results were combined Richmond retained their team league title for the 3rd consecutive year by a massive 18.5 points.

At Catterick parkrun Luke Stephenson was 2nd (16:46), followed by younger brother Charlie in 3rd and a massive new pb (17:48) and mum Stephanie was the 2st lady (22:10).

Ian Hepworth was the first Richmond Harrier in 113th (25:17) at Darlington parkrun.

Diane Adkins was 134th and another new pb at Albert parkrun (25:32).

Over at Northallerton parkrun Shannon Robinson broke her pb in 10th and the 1st lady runner (22:50).
