THIS week Richmond's runners were in championship cross countries, indoors on the track, muddy boots at Ripon and off all the way to Spain for the Torremolinos half.

A select band of Richmonds athletes took themselves off to Spain for a bit of warm weather training and then to see how whether it paid off entered the Torremolinos half marathon at the end of their week. Right from the start Rob Scott tracked with the leading group but it wasn’t until the last few miles that the race was won and Rob staying on to finish a fantastic 5th in only his second ever half marathon. He was also the 3rd senior runner and the 1st non Spaniard across the line (72:24) and he was ably supported by Steve Middleton who finished in 44th (82:04). Kyle Rabjohn continues his excellent form both indoors and out with 2nd in the Northern Indoor championships 800m U15 race held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. A large turnout of our athletes where at Barnard Castle for the Northern intercountry cross country races. Josh Hammett had another good run in the minor boys race finishing in 7th. In the junior boys Kyle Rabjohn again had an excellent run to finish in 2nd, with Charlie Stephenson in 4th and Daniel Francis completing the Richmond trio in 6th. In the minor girls race both our entrants had superb runs with Holly McCowie finishing in 12th and Shannon Robinson in 16th. Joe Reeve also took on the Muddy Boots 1 mile race the prequel to the main event and carried off the victory! Kiska Wilson was 168th and 2nd in her age category (52:34), Pauline Whittaker was 197th (53:57) and Nicki Buckett was 285th at the Muddy Boots 10k (60:08).
