Wetherby & D.M.C. Annual Filtrate Trophy Trial, Cockhill Mines, Sunday.

LEYBURN joiner Richard Sadler ruled Cockhill Mines on Sunday winning the Wetherby clubs annual Filtrate Trophy Trial and scoring West Yorkshire Group championship points for the Yeadon-Guiseley club. In the three adult classes the Y-G tally was a staggering ninety seven points. The Wetherby organisers managed a an eleventh hour move to Cockhill Mines when Bayliss Gap was declared no-go because of the wet land conditions. An Arctic east wind chilled the observers at the fourteen sections especially at the lofty tenth and eleventh where Mick Shorrock and Wendy Yeadon had no shelter at all. Mick Shorrock witnessed eleven year old Harry Hemingway dive over the handlebars of his brand new 80cc Beta. But for that mishap he would have tied on most cleans with Askrigg Clubman A class winner Philip Alderson. In the championship class Whickham's John Crinson got his Beta home in third place while Dan Hemingway tested Sadler as well has watching out for sons Harry and George. The conditions hardly affected Summerbridge Clubman B front runner -as usual, Phillip Hammond who rode a non-stop three laps and his score on the sixth section was only bettered by Errol Brown. Bedale teenager Guy Stones was placed second in the youth class of the championship category.

Scarborough & D.M.C. Trial, Low North Park, Sunday.

IT all clicked for Scorpa rider Andy Chilton from Whitby on Sunday at Scarborough`clubs trial at Low North Park riding to a convincing win over Beta rider Ian Austermuhle, with young Zac Collinson in third. Also a couple of surprise results in Inter and Clubman A class as both Rob Carter and Dave Archer brushed the cobwebs of retirement away to take the top spots. Clubman A rider Roy Jarvis did not make the results, but he did do a great job as minder, not only for Luke Greaves in Clubman B, but also for Mark Myers, and Adam Sharp as they fancied a greater challenge and moved up to Youth B. Shaughan Galway organised the conducted route and the youth side of trials is beginning to make headway with entries up each week. Valentino Breen - must be a winner with that Christian name - topped the class of seven with Eliza Arbon and Miss Olivia-May Harrison second and third.

Richardsons strike gold

SKEEBY'S Jonathan Richardson raced his Tennant Beta to fourth place in the Extreme Enduro at Tong on Sunday taking fourth place overall in the tough event. His sister Chloe took a fine twelfth place in her first Extreme event.
