RICHMOND and Zetlands athletes were involved in the North Yorkshire indoor championships, Stockton trail series and some park running this week.

This weekend saw the indoor championships held at the Sheffield Institute of Sport for North Yorkshire with many of our younger athletes taking part. Tom O’Mahoney ran in the U15/17 1500m and finished an excellent 4th against much older athletes, but was the 1st U15 taking the title (5:12:2). He followed this up with a great result in 3rd in the U15 long jump (3.74). James Davidson showed his burgeoning class taking 1st in the U17 400m and the title (53:6). Eliza Withers doubled up and took both the U17 ladies 60m hurdles (9.3) and also the 300m titles (43.4) Adam Walker was a very good 3rd in the U20 mens race against some high class opposition (52:3), Emily Harris was 6th in the U17 ladies 60m (8:6) and 5th in the U17 ladies 200m (28:6), Joey Hewson was 4th in the U20 60m (8:6) and 2nd in the 200m (27:9), Joe Withers also competed in the U17 mens 200m coming 6th (26:4) and then taking the U17 mens shot put title (7:46). A bit more local to home was the 2nd race in the Stockton 5km trail winter series. Dan Francis had a superb run for a junior athlete to win the race beating many senior athletes in the process. Sister Emily also had a good run to finish 47th, the 7th lady and 2nd junior lady. Over the slightly shorter distance of 2km also had a Richmond and Zetland win with Callum Crisp racing to the victory.

At Catterick parkrun Mike Major on his return north took the win proudly wearing his Richmond and Zetland vest (16:55), Ian Christon was 2nd (18:06, pb), followed closely by Daniel Francis in 3rd (18:08), Ronnie Corbett was 10th (19:36), Steve Sadler in 11th (19:37), Ryan Greer was 42nd (23:52), Pauline Whittaker was 51st (25:23), Ian Hepworth was 58th (26:02), Thomas Greer was 63rd (26:59), Diane Adkins was 65th (27:17, pb) and Nicki Buckett was 66th (27:22). Steve Middleton was 3rd (18:27), Lee Davies in 4th (18:49) and Ken Harker was 5th (19:54) at Northallerton parkrun.
