THREE young badminton players from Wensleydale distinguished themselves in an area wide competition at Teesside.

Held at the Teesside Performance Centre at Thornaby the contest saw Jack Dalton finish runner-up in the under 11 singles section. Then partnering his fellow Askrigg club player, Ben Alderson, the pair were runners-up in the under 11 doubles.

At just thirteen years of age Nathan Jackson of Leyburn who attends Wensleydale School also played well in the under 15 singles. Doing himself justice he won his group and reached the quarter finals, despite being one of the youngest in his category.

Wensleydale League coach Colin Thorpe who accompanied the three players said: “They all had a great time and played some good badminton.”
