MORE than 80 ponies have taken part in a County Durham competition run by a society supported by Prince Charles.
The Prince of Wales has agreed to be a patron for the Dales Pony Society, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2016.
The society held its annual spring stallion and breed show at Streatlam Farm near Barnard Castle on Saturday with Teesdale couple David and Alison Eccles riding away with the big awards.
The pair from Middleton-in- Teesdale bred and exhibited Westwick Polly, a six-year-old geld mare, who was named overall show champion.

Two year-old Colt: 1 S Dickson, Kelso; 2 M&H Snowden, Aberdeenshire.
Yearling Colt: 1 D&A Eccles, Middletonon- Teesdale; 2 C Parker, Baldersdale; 3 L Thompson, Spennymoor. Brood Mare: 1 D&A Eccles, Middleton-on-Teesdale.
Geld Mare seven years and over: 1 D&S Harrison, Spennymoor; 2 E Jones, Penrith; 3 JK&M Metcalf, Bolam. Geld Mare four and six years: 1 D&A Eccles; 2 C Crow, Wakefield; 3 R&F Longstaff, Mickleton.
Three year-old Filly: 1 D Raper, Hett; 2 R&F Longstaff; 2 C Parker. Two-year-old Filly: 1 G Cockbain, Keswick; 2 J Alderson, Leyburn; 3 R&F Longstaff. Yearling Filly: 1 AW Morland; 2 J Pennell, Heighington; 3 D Raper, Hett. Gelding seven years and over: 1st D&S Harrison; 2 J Pearson, Sheffield; 3 D Ashby, Stocksbridge.
Gelding four to six years: 1 E Jones; 2 C Mummery, Tow Law; 3 J Owens, Crook. Gelding one to three years: 1 C&K Turner, Darwen, Lancs. Section mare four years and over: 1 C Parker.
Section filly one to three years: 1 D&R Willison, Ingleton North Yorks. Ridden gelding four to six years: 1 E McGinlry, Ebchester; 2 J Owens; 3 L Gosney, Harrogate.
Ridden gelding seven years and over: 1 J Fearnhead, Kendal; 2 D Ashby; 3 J Pearson. Ridden mare four to six years: 1 R&IM Graham, Newcastleton 2 D Ashby; 3 K Tebbett, Sedbergh.
