I HAVE been a critic of The Northern Echo who I believe have often promoted anti-Brexit views far more than pro ones, especially many of their feature writers.

Therefore I think it is only fair I congratulate the paper (Echo, Oct 11) giving an almost full page spread to Trade Policy Minister George Hollingbery promoting the benefits of leaving the EU in its opinion section.

His views do not mean we wish to stop trading with Europe but support the views of Leave who wish to cease membership of the EU and to take back control of our own affairs and save a weekly contribution of £350m.

However despite my congratulations I do not think the editorial team at the Echo will have changed their negative attitude towards Brexit.

The letter by Gary Mundell (HAS, Oct 12) also filled me with much cheer with his positive use of the words might, may and could as opposed to the negative use of the same words by supporters of remain.

It was also pleasing to read articles (Echo Business, Oct 11 and 12) advising how well the businesses mentioned are doing, as well as the possibility of Sembcorp Utilities UK introducing employment into Teesside.

I hope using the word possibility is not sounding like a Remainer.
