Sir, – In response to A Jones’ letter published last week (D&S, Jan 28), as I pointed out in my letter published on January 21, I live very near to the offending junction.
I walk past it at least four times every day, usually at the busiest time, therefore I have a lot more time to observe what is going on than motorists who are passing through.
I would also like to point out: 1, There is no pedestrian crossing on either Northallerton Road or Leases Road so would Mr Jones like to suggest how the children from the east side of the village cross the road to school.
2, The Bedale, Aiskew and Leeming Bar by pass was never included in the A1 upgrade, apart from in our hopes and dreams.
3, If he looks at the A1 upgrade plans properly, he will see that once it is complete both north and southbound traffic will join/leave the A684 at the motel using a new roundabout. The only exception will be traffic wishing to access Leeming Bar Industrial Estate, which will travel from the Leases Bridge junction to the new roundabout on Leases Road and onto the estate.
MARGARET TIPLADY Leeming Bar.
