Sir, – Bill Oldfield was quoted in last weekend’s D&S re-the River Tees rope bridge scheme: “The pure idea of the bridge has always been what we were interested in.”
Yet in August 2003, a Teesdale Marketing document about the proposed rope bridge, said: “A bridge-only development would lack the critical mass to be financially sustainable.
Therefore the preferred option would be a bridge, plus Woodland adventure experience, and a visitor centre.”
Why is Teesdale Marketing now proposing a scheme that it has already decided not to be financially viable?
