Sir, – The building work on the Lile Close housing development here in the centre of Richmond is, as I understand it, likely to take almost a year.

The site is currently surrounded by a vast, white, safety screen some 150m in length and 2m high. It occurred to me that this wall could provide a wonderful opportunity for the advanced art students from our two senior schools to paint huge murals on these panels.

They would be such fun to do and much more interesting to look at. They would be an exciting addition to the Richmond scene.

The work would be done, obviously, when the site is not operating but could provide a splendid opportunity for our budding young artists to work on a size of canvas not normally available to them.

DAPHNE CLARKE Frenchgate, Richmond.
