Sir, – During the recent bitter weather, we have been amazed at all the people who have been providing services to our local community in a cheerful manner in spite of the formidable challenges in simply getting around safely.
The waste collecting by Hambleton District Council, the milkman, the postman, the coalman, the daily home visitors, the bread vans, the newspaper vans, and of course the village shop, have all kept going in quite extreme circumstances, and we all owe them a great deal for helping to maintain reasonable normality of daily life.
A special mention should be made of all the village school staff who kept things going when many other country schools had given up the struggle.
Snow super heroes indeed!
ROBIN COOK Claver Close, Swainby.
