Sir, – The prospects for LINk’s public engagement in health provision, as outlined by Janet Seymour Kirk (D&S April 10), is only funded for two more years and LINk’s has already spent £220,000 on organisation.

At the AGM I attended, there was a vote against accepting the accounts, as they had not been independently audited. LINk’s at district level were told a year ago what Richmondshire needed.

The action plan has yet to happen. Then who will LINk’s speak to?

There is no North Yorkshire LINk’s representation, with either the South Tees Hospitals Board or their new governors.

Now the public are prevented from attending those meetings, admitted by board members to be mutually productive.

The route is now roundabout, through governors’ meetings, LINk’s, PALs and not even a manager at the James Cook University Hospital to contact.

At the moment, LINk’s is the only open door, which I want to see leading to the re-establishment of the low-cost, independent community health councils, or a health care action forum for Richmondshire.
