Sir, – The sun is shining in blue skies. The avenue of cherry trees is breaking into flower on the A684 entrance into Northallerton, which is the most attractive of all the entrance roads into the town.
Alas, one is then, at the junction of Leases Lane with Boroughbridge Road, met by the miserable sight of the roundabout. The black and white markings on its perimeter haven't been painted in years. It is an eyesore. Surely Romanby Council can, if they can't afford its upkeep, approach some firm to sponsor the roundabout and brighten it up.
Northallerton High Street has a roundabout at either end – both sponsored by local firms and a joy to behold.
Come on Romanby councillors – get your finger out.
Mrs C McDADE
Morton on Swale, Northallerton
