Sir, – On Monday, March 2, I attempted to drive over Grinton Moor. This was a foolish decision for, although there was little snow in Wensleydale, there was a significant depth of snow on the tops. I got well and truly stuck, and then my phone battery ran out.
May I, through this letter, thank the numerous strangers who got me out, including PC Hudson.
I have learned at least two lessons.
At the slightest hint of snow, never attempt to go over the top. Always keep one's mobile phone battery fully charged.
I was very grateful for the kindness of strangers that afternoon.
ROSI KEATINGE
