Sir, – There can be few folk who have failed to notice how much more dangerous Skeeby bridge has become since the extra speed bump was installed at the bottom end of the village.
Drivers used to respect the priority given to vehicles travelling northwards over the bridge. Now that you have to slow down for a safe traversing over this last speed bump, the vehicles coming down from Scotch Corner often exploit their opportunity to nip across the bridge, hopefully in time.
Yesterday this happened to us and what's more, we encountered four further cars on the bridge that had sneaked in behind the first one ie the single file rule over the bridge is now more often ignored.
How long will it be before there is another bad accident of the kind that generated the necessity for this single file rule in the first place?
