Sir, – I am in favour of the railway crossing at Low Gates at the north end of the High Street in Northallerton/east end of Yafforth Road being kept as it is.
The reason for this is that the delays caused by the crossing being closed to allow for trains to pass do not inconvenience me much. I also find that it is very helpful when the traffic comes to a standstill when I am trying to leave the Sainsbury's supermarket car park and turn right to drive towards town.
However, please see the picture that was taken from a stationary car at the High Street end of South Parade, Northallerton. The standstill was probably due to the railway crossing on Boroughbridge Road being closed. I wonder, does North Yorkshire County Council have any plans to sort out the problem at the railway crossing on Boroughbridge Road any time in the next ten years?
