Eleven people are being held on suspicion of murder after a fatal stabbing in central London.

The Metropolitan Police said the male victim died at a hotel in Euston Street, Camden, on Monday night.

He had entered the building from the street before collapsing in the lobby.

One guest at four-star The Wesley, which brands itself as the first ethical hotel in the UK, said he heard things “kicking off” as he was trying to go to sleep.

Ayesha Begum, 38, who lives close to where the man was found, said she came out of her home after hearing a commotion.

“Police were following a trail of blood,” she said.

Laura Collings, 34, another hotel guest who is on a business trip from Manchester, said she returned to the hotel shortly after the man’s body had been taken away.

In the aftermath of the stabbing there were “quite a few people walking around looking upset” who seemed like “they might have been associated in some way” with the victim, she said.
