AN ARTIST is celebrating the launch of his new photography book by staging an exhibition of his favourite pieces.
Photographs and illustrations by James D Robinson from Newton Aycliffe are on display in the town’s Greenfield Gallery at Greenfield Community and Arts Centre until Wednesday.
Mr Robinson’s work spans a wide subject matter – from local monuments and landscapes to historical re-enactments. Visitors will also have the opportunity to buy a copy of his new photography book, This & That, which contains 83 black and white images that were all achieved using the light available.
“It is intended to appeal to anyone who simply enjoys looking at images without being assailed by the often pretentious rhetoric that frequently accompanies many art and photo projects,” said Mr Robinson, who studied traditional photo printing and photo portraiture at Darlington College and has been exhibiting across the North-East since the 1970s.
“I believe if a work engages with an audience, then it has attained some value by its own merit.”
The Greenfield Gallery is open from 10am to 9pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 10am to 4pm on Friday. For more information visit Greenfield-arts.co.uk or jamesdrobinsonarena.com
