Thirsk Police Court. Irving Pixton, a military chauffeur, York, was summoned for driving a motor car to the danger of the public on the highway between Coxwold and Husthwaite on March 5. A fine of 20s and costs was inflicted and on the application of the prosecution the solicitor’s fee (£1.1s) and costs of witnesses was granted.

From this newspaper 25 years ago. – A former waitress at the Morritt Arms Hotel has joined the Queen’s Household staff at Windsor Castle. Alison Bell, 20, had landed the job of royal chambermaid, after being interviewed by a lady-in-waiting.
Her father, Mr George Bell, of Zetland Estate, Richmond, drove her to Buckingham Palace for the interview.
