AN urgent call has been made to try and keep a town’s lifesaving club afloat.
Volunteers are needed to take over the running of the club in Northallerton.
President Ken Billings, 64, who helped start the club 30 years ago and was the organisation’s first chairman, has decided to step down.
"For the sake of the members, it would be nice to hand over to someone with an understanding of the club or a willingness to undertake the necessary training to supervise the activities," he said.
He added that Liz Bunting, was also planning to retire, after 20 years as treasurer.
"We’re still a lively organisation in the town with plenty of younger members," he said.
The club meets each Saturday at the Hambleton Leisure Centre from 5.30pm to 7.15pm. Anyone interested should contact Mr Billings on 01609-778765.
