POLICE have put 4x4 owners on the alert after the theft of another vehicle from the Bedale area.

A distinctive blue Land Rover Defender 90 with a white roof and a snorkel exhaust was stolen from an alleyway behind the Market Place, near the Spar shop, between 5pm on Saturday and 8am on Sunday.

It is the latest of several which have been stolen in the town in the past few months and police are urging people to be on the alert.

"It is becoming an issue and I would urge people to do all they can to deter would-be thieves, by making sure their vehicles are locked and secure," said PC Mark Wood.

The latest vehicle to be taken must have been driven off past Dawkins motorcycle shop and PC Wood is appealing for anyone who may have seen it or who has any other information which might help to contact him on 01845 6060 247.
