A North Yorkshire heritage railway has teamed up with a storyteller for a Christmas train ride packed with ghost stories, folklore and festive frights.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) will run A Bloody Merry Christmas on December 5 and 19, a darkly festive steam journey between Pickering and Levisham.
Mad Alice from The Bloody Tour of York will lead the experience with “hilariously horrifying” tales and a gothic twist on Christmas tradition.
Laura Strangeway, chief executive of NYMR, said: "We can’t wait to welcome Mad Alice back for a wicked twist on the traditional Christmas experience this year with the Bloody Merry Christmas Express.
"We wanted to offer something that feels completely different to the traditional Christmas celebrations and excite visitors.
"From the moment guests step on board they can expect plenty of laughs and festive frights, all set against the atmospheric backdrop of the North York Moors."
The one-hour journey leaves Pickering at 6.30pm, turning the train into a world of ghost stories, sinister legends and macabre festive folklore.
Characters on board include a mischievous Father Christmas, a twisted Bloody Sugar Plum Fairy and Krampus, the horned Christmas nightmare.
The train will cross the moors in darkness, adding to the gothic atmosphere.
Tickets cost £35 per person and are available to anyone aged 16 or over.

Due to limited availability, advance booking is advised.
Until October 18, 2026, early-bird tickets cost £30 per person, plus a £1.50 booking fee per transaction.
