A North Yorkshire arts venue is taking part in a UK-wide campaign to raise awareness of the climate and nature emergency.
Leyburn Arts and Community Centre will host a public screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing on Thursday, August 6, at 7pm.
The event is part of a nationwide movement, with more than 1,600 cinemas and community groups taking part.
Chris Packham is calling for a televised national address on the climate and nature crisis.
His petition has already attracted more than 22,000 signatures.
Ingrid Garrod, trustee and volunteer at Leyburn Arts and Community Centre, said: "There will be a short open discussion after the screening about what it means for our community and what we can do locally. We will be inviting various knowledgable local people to join us."
The screening is open to all and includes complimentary tea and coffee.
While entry is free, the centre will welcome donations to help cover room hire and other running costs.
Packham is calling for a national, prime-time emergency briefing introduced by the Prime Minister and delivered by independent experts.
He believes this would inform the public about the urgent and wide-ranging risks of climate and environmental breakdown, from health impacts to food security.
Supporters argue that the UK faces mounting threats from environmental decline, yet the public has never received a clear and authoritative national briefing on the scale and seriousness of the crisis.
The People’s Emergency Briefing aims to change this by providing trusted, expert-led information and practical advice for individuals and communities.
