Burglars smashed their way into Leyburn Co-op and stole cash from the tills on Monday.
Police said the suspects broke into an outer door of the store, in the market place, at about 10.30pm before breaking into the main door at about 11pm.
Once inside they caused damage to the till area before leaving with cash from the tills.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The suspects are both described as male, one was wearing all black clothing and navy blue trainers, and the other one wearing a turquoise jacket, with black trousers and trainers.
"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the break-in and anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area in the minutes leading up to the break-in.
"We are also appealing to any motorists who were passing through the town at the time and may have unknowingly caught the suspects hanging around near the store or caught the break-in on dashcam to get in touch.
"Anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to contact PC Ryan Edwards at ryan.edwards@northyorkshire.police.uk or call 101 and ask for Ryan Edwards.
