Two teenagers have been arrested and charged after a stolen motorbike was recovered by officers in Darlington.

The bike had been stolen from the rear yard of a house in Vane Terrace in the early hours of yesterday morning. (September 17)

Minutes after the initial call came in, officers had located the bike, which had been abandoned in the nearby graveyard of Holy Trinity Church, on Woodland Road.

Two 14-year-old boys, who cannot be named due to their age, were arrested in connection with the incident and interviewed by officers.

They have since been charged with theft and released on bail to appear at Newton Aycliffe Youth Court on October 11.

One of the boys has also been charged with a further offence of burglary following the attempted theft of a Kawasaki motorbike from a garage in Lock Street, Darlington, last month.
