A man was hospitalised last night after getting a knife wound to his head in Stockton.

At 9.40pm the police received reports that there were a group of men in possession of weapons on Dunoon Close.

Police arrived at the scene and found a 45-year-old man with a knife wound to his head.

He was taken by ambulance to North Tees General Hospital and has now been discharged.

After investigating a property on Honeycomb Avenue was searched by officers and a 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violence against a person.

He is being questioned by police in custody.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "At 9.40pm on Thursday 29 August police were called to Dunoon Close in Stockton following reports of a group of men in possession of weapons.

"Officers swiftly attended to the area and located a 45-year-old man with a knife wound to his head.

"He was taken to North Tees General Hospital by ambulance and has since been discharged.

"Following further enquiries, a property on Honeycomb Avenue was searched by officers and a 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violence against the person.

"He is currently in police custody for questioning.

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 9.40pm yesterday evening (Thursday 29 August) to reports of a person injured at a private address on Dunoon Close in Stockton.

"We dispatched an ambulance crew, a specialist paramedic, and a clinical team leader, and requested support from our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) who attended by road.

"We took one patient to hospital for further treatment."
