This is the motorcycle that North Yorkshire Police will use as part of the force’s crackdown on speeding drivers in the county this weekend.
Motorists are being warned to “be safe and not sorry” when travelling over the August bank holiday weekend.
Inspector Clive Turner, from North Yorkshire Police, said the force expects beauty spots and roads across the county to be “very busy” – particularly as it will be the last bank holiday before Christmas.
“This operation is one of several different approaches that we have taken this year to engage with the motorcycle community to encourage responsible riding,” he said.
“Everyone has the right to use the roads safely and we want all road users to be more considerate of each other, regardless of their vehicle choice.”
Officers will have a “close eye on all vehicles” using the roads, a force spokesperson said, adding: “If we encounter motorists having a clear lack of respect for the law, we will deal with this appropriately.”
They will use the BMW motorcycle, which is on loan to the force, to engage with riders.
“Motorcycles make up around one per cent of road traffic, but in 2021 accounted for 20 per cent of road fatalities and 12 per cent of road casualties in Great Britain,” the spokesperson said.
