ONE of the biggest names in British show-jumping will be sharing his expertise with the public next month.

Former international star Graham Fletcher will be appearing for the first time at Countryside Live in Harrogate on October 25 and 26.

He'll be entertaining visitors with two equine master classes each day of the event, which is the "little sister" to the annual Great Yorkshire Show.

Mr Fletcher is an Olympic silver medallist who was also twice British National Champion and Leading Showjumper of the Year.

"I'm going to show how you need to work with your horse to win classes at the higher events in the sport," he said.

"I'll also cover topics such as what you need to do to win a jump-off, the turns you use and so on."

He added: "The classes should be useful for those who own horses and jump them, but also great fun to watch, so I hope visitors to Countryside Live will come and enjoy them too."

The show will be held in the Yorkshire Event Centre at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate and this year sees the introduction of equine classes at the event, with a selection of ridden competitions.

There are also competitions for beef cattle, sheep, pigeons, poultry, honey, flowers, fruit and vegetables. Pigs also make an appearance for the first time.

In addition there will be live cookery demonstrations, the return of the popular dog agility demonstrations and the new Stray FM Motor Show.

Tickets are £6 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for children when bought before October 20. Call the ticket line on 01423 541222.
