Darlington by the Sea is returning to the town centre in less than a week.
Tonnes of sand will be delivered to the market square ahead of the event beginning on Wednesday July 24.
It will be used to create a clean beach right in the middle of town.
The beach will be open Wednesday to Sunday, from 11am to 5pm, with deckchairs and beach toys available for families to enjoy.
There will be face painting, activities and lots of fun games at the free event.
A Darlington Borough Council spokesperson said: "Join us for five days of sun (hopefully), sea and sand for this ever-popular annual family event.
"Darlington by the Sea's beach-themed event runs from Wednesday, July 24 to Sunday, July 28.
"From 11am until 5pm each day families can enjoy free sandcastle building in a giant sandpit in the market square, face painting, activities and lots more fun and games."
