One person has been hospitalised after being 'stabbed' with a needle just off the high street in Northallerton.
The incident took place just before 2.30pm on Zetland Street.
A 57-year-old man has been arrested following the attack and the police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "At just before 2.30pm today (Tuesday 02 July 2024) we received a report that a person had been stabbed with a needle on Zetland Street in Northallerton.
"Officers attended and a 57-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
"The victim has been taken to hospital and a cordon remains in place.
"We’re asking anyone who witnessed the incident that hasn’t spoken to us at the scene to come forward. Please contact 101 and quote reference number 12240117183."
