Jaflong? A Must Visit

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Jaflong, a restaurant with beautiful Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. I had a wonderful meal and would definitely recommend.

Jaflong is a wonderful restaurant specialising in traditional Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine located in Ripon at 16 Kirkgate and, despite the fierce competition from the many competing restaurants on Kirkgate road and the other curry houses in Ripon, Jaflong still, quite deservedly, thrives, seen clearly in its position as finalist in the English Curry Awards among. The restaurant is open from Sunday to Saturday from 5pm till 11pm so there is plenty of chance throughout the week to experience a meal at Jaflong.

I had the opportunity to talk so some other recent visitors to Jaflong and they revealed to me their experiences. One said “I thought it was a buzzy, lively atmosphere and the food was nicely spicy and seemed very authentic. Also, the fact you can bring your own bottles is an advantage in my opinion as it helps to keep the cost down”. Another recent diner said, “the best part is the sauces which aren’t made mild for our tastes but contain all the traditional flavour and spice”.

Personally, I had an excellent experience at Jaflong. I had a mutton madras with plenty of naan bread and coconut rice and I found it delicious, while the relaxed atmosphere allowed for sharing and sampling of all the curries we brought, creating a more collective experience. The restaurant’s interior is modern and simple but contains many hints of the tradition that’s so important to its philosophy although the seating area is quite small so avoiding busy nights may be wise if you prefer a less busy atmosphere. Having said that, large groups are easily facilitated for. In conclusion, dinner at Jaflong was an enjoyable experience with great food. I would definitely recommend and I would give it 4 stars
